Aunt Pledge Tones & Kehkashan Nigel-Wright…

(K)ehkashan: You
know what? I’ve just about had it with the American Press Corps and the status
quo that comprises of not just Donald Trump and Mike Pence and the Republican
Majority in both houses of the United States Congress, but journalists like
those at the Fox News Network and MSNBC, and those who came before these two
became the corrupt mainstays that they are right now. I am particularly upset
over female journalism chiefs like Tina Brown, Arianna Huffington, Anna
Wintour, and Patty Hearst.
(P)ledge Tones: Why
do those four in particular make you upset?
(K)ehkashan: Tina
Brown was the first female chief of the Vanity Fair franchise, Arianna
Huffington is the head of the Huffington Post franchise, Anna Wintour is head
of the Vogue franchise, and Patty Hearst is the head of the Harper’s Bazaar
franchise.
(P)ledge Tones: Those
are magazines I subscribe to for my offices. I am a mental health counselor and
it does concern me when my clients respond as specifically as you are right now
about the contents in these particular magazines. What contents in these
magazines specifically- Vanity Fair, Huffington Post, Vogue, and Harper’s
Bazaar- made and make you upset?
(K)ehkashan: Vanity
Fair had an article recently about a trend being formed regarding high end
prostitution. According to that article, there are women who invest in cosmetics
and surgeries to look like a million bucks to dine and then commiserate and
eventually consummate physically with filthily wealthy men who look like tall
versions of the Hollywood actor Danny DeVito or younger versions of the
Republican Senator from Arizona John McCain.
(P)ledge Tones: Where
do your parents stand in terms of parental advisory and censorship?
(K)ehkashan: Daddy
and Papa were raised without parental advisory and censorship, and I am
fortunate to have lived through the hellishness of my tweens with a Democratic
president in the White House. Daddy and Papa were speaking of the 1990s this
morning. What was the most significant happening in the 1990s for you, Aunt
Pledge?
(P)ledge Tones: Hillary
Clinton emerging on the scene as a human rights activist and spokeswoman for girls
and women globally when her husband Bill Clinton took office as the 42nd
President of the United States was a major driving force in my becoming the
independent professional and mental health counselor I am today. I tried to
join the Peace Corps upon finishing high school, but found out that a bachelor’s
degree or a specific skills set were necessary to participate in the Peace
Corps.
(K)ehkashan: Why
didn’t you just take time out of your schedule then with a church or
organization as Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Kaine did in order to work within
an international charity in Honduras? You took Spanish for six years, beginning
in middle school and finishing off in high school, and it was because of your
warnings about needing to learn Spanish that propelled me to take the same academic
route as you and Papa! And anyways, why didn’t Daddy learn Spanish?
(P)ledge Tones: Daddy
and I were hesitant of religious teachings generally while growing up in predominantly
Muslim households. On your Daddy’s side of the family tree, you basically inherited
a nonreligious flair and openness as a direct result of Daddy’s maternal
grandparents being thrown out of their mosque because of their liberal faith
and daily practices. Your Daddy’s paternal grandparents did not sever ties with
the mosque, but interestingly enough, Daddy’s Nana and Dada were the best of
friends.
(K)ehkashan: Papa’s
parents are Baptist on the paternal end and Roman Catholic on the maternal end.
We really must construct a family tree sometime soon! It can get mindboggling
with all the storytelling going on all over the place!
(P)ledge Tones: On
your Papa’s side of the family tree, you basically inherited a religious flair
and an understated sense of humor as a direct result of Papa’s paternal grandparents
being thrown into a lifelong commitment to their Christian faith because of
their liberal outlook being like that of their favorite original evangelical
founder’s writings! Do you remember who that was?
(K)ehkashan: Mr.
Charles Grandison Finney!
(P)ledge Tones: I’m
going to hand you a book, The Original Memoirs of Charles G. Finney.
Have them read through to the part where Mr. Finney finally surrenders and
converses in convulsions with the Lord. Have that much read at least when you
return tomorrow afternoon! You may Internet all you like, but these memoirs,
edited by Garth M. Rosell and Richard A. G. Dupuis, are fundamental groundwork
for understanding the Second Great Awakening in the United States.
(K)ehkashan: You’re
making me read an actual book as always!
(P)ledge Tones:
You’re becoming a cynic with all those sensationalist periodicals. I want to
give you a second reading as well, a periodical that will refocus your
attention away from the Western Hemisphere versus the Eastern Hemisphere and anti-globalization
agenda of the right-wing long winds while you catch up on the goings-on in
Pakistan around this time last year. Plus, I want you to watch three of Alia
Bhatt’s Bollywood films from India: Highway; Kapoor & Sons; and Udta
Punjab. That said, good luck!
(K)ehkashan:
Thanks, Aunt Pledge! Love you!
(WILL BE
CONTINUED TOMORROW!!! Stay tuned!!!)
